The Skyview Fire Department is proud to announce its observance of January as Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month, recognizing the critical importance of raising awareness about cancer risks among firefighters. As one of the leading causes of death in firefighters, cancer poses a significant threat to those who selflessly serve our communities.
Within the Skyview Fire Department, the impact of cancer hits close to home, with two of our esteemed members currently undergoing cancer treatments. Their courage and resilience serve as a poignant reminder of the urgent need to prioritize firefighter health and safety.
In line with our commitment to the well-being of our firefighters, Skyview Fire Department continually seeks to enhance our practices and adhere to the latest standards in firefighter safety. We understand the gravity of the risks our firefighters face daily, and we are dedicated to implementing measures that mitigate these risks and promote overall wellness.
To further support our mission and ensure that our firefighters have access to the latest safety equipment and resources, we rely heavily on community support. As a primarily self-funded organization, donations and participation in our fundraising events are crucial to sustaining our operations and advancing our safety initiatives.
We invite members of the community to join us in making a difference. Our annual Fish Fry fundraiser, commencing on February 14th, marks the beginning of our fundraising efforts for the year. Additionally, stay tuned for details regarding our upcoming Purse Bash event in May, where we will come together for an evening of fun and philanthropy.
Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of our firefighters. Join us in supporting those who dedicate their lives to protecting our community.
